FREE MARIE

Free Marie is a media personality from Dorchester, Boston, best known publicly as the original co-host of BET's 106 & Park. Her own current social media presence uses the fuller name Free Marie Wright.

Before television, she trained at the Roxbury Center for Performing Arts for eleven years and danced professionally, including an appearance in Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch's 1991 "Good Vibrations" video.

She co-hosted BET's live weekday video-countdown and interview show 106 & Park alongside A.J. Calloway from its launch on September 11, 2000, through July 28, 2005. She returned to produce and host the show's 10th-anniversary specials in October 2010, and again on December 19, 2014, to co-host its series finale alongside A.J. Calloway, Bow Wow, Terrence J, and Rocsi Diaz.

During the same era, press coverage in her hometown reported she was working on a debut album — but no commercial release of that project was ever confirmed. In 2002, she also founded the Free4Life Foundation, supporting literacy, financial education, and creative-arts programs in Boston's underserved communities.

Her radio career included stints at KKBT 100.3 The Beat in Los Angeles, The Ed Lover Morning Show on Power 105.1 in New York, and The Big Tigger Morning Show on WPGC-FM in Washington, D.C., which she continued hosting solo after Big Tigger's departure. She is also the founder of the skincare brand Pudding Stone Bath and the cancer-awareness nonprofit TeamCancerFree.

In 2025, she reunited with A.J. Calloway and the rest of the original 106 & Park cast for the show's 25th-anniversary tribute at the BET Awards. In 2026, she returned to the Boston stage to host 741 Frequency Fest, a free community block party Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown threw on Boston Common as a farewell to the city.
