JOWELL

Jowell —Joel Muñoz Martínez— is an urban artist and a member of the Puerto Rican duo Jowell y Randy. He was born on March 3, 1982, in Springfield, Massachusetts: AllMusic and the duo's official YouTube channel agree on both the place and the date.

AllMusic traces his reggaeton career back to the mid-1990s, citing Vico C as an influence and listing him as a member of both Casa de Leones and Jowell y Randy.

Outside the duo's own albums, he appears on collaborations with other artists: “Bonita,” with J Balvin (2017); “Safaera,” on Bad Bunny's YHLQMDLG (2020); “En La Intimidad,” with Nicky Jam (2023); and “Triple S,” with J Balvin and De La Ghetto (2024), a track the official Latin Grammy site lists among the nominees for Best Reggaeton Performance at its 25th edition.

His own output includes “Perreo 101,” with Maldy (2018), the EP Tik Tokers (2021), and “Homenaje a Carlos Beltran,” with Christian Alicea, released by Well Done Music in July 2026.

San Juan Urbano: Academia de Música y Arte is a program of the Municipality of San Juan for high-school students with talent in music and urban arts, which opened in February 2026 at the former María Martínez school. Primera Hora identifies Jowell as a driving force and key collaborator behind the program; Metro Puerto Rico, as the initiative's organizer.
