BIOGRAPHY

I. Dorchester And Roxbury

Mike Boston is an artist and community organizer from Dorchester and Roxbury, Boston. Boston Magazine and The Boston Globe identify him as a Dorchester resident (April 20, 2017); NBC News, in its “Inspiring America” series, reports that in March 2017 he was 41 years old and had served time in prison roughly two decades earlier. The same NBC News feature documents his later work with Roca, a Boston nonprofit for at-risk youth and formerly incarcerated people.

III. Mobile Stü And #BlackWithBlue

Mike Boston is the founder of Mobile Stü, a pickup truck converted into a mobile recording studio for at-risk Boston youth, documented by Fast Company, Yahoo Lifestyle, Mass Capital and NBC News, run in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Dorchester and the Boston Police Department.

On November 30, 2016, he released “One Beat for Peace: #BlackWithBlue” on YouTube — a song recorded with Boston Police officers and youth from the Dorchester Boys & Girls Club, with iTunes proceeds going to the club. The campaign won the 2nd Annual Shorty Social Good Award (Social Justice category), generated an estimated 59 million earned-media impressions, and was covered by NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt and WCVB's “5 for Good.”

On April 20, 2017, The Ellen DeGeneres Show surprised him with a 2018 Chevy Equinox and $10,000 for Mobile Stü, as reported the same day by The Boston Globe and Boston Magazine.
