PROFILE
Origins
Vinny Rivera was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Puerto Rican parents and raised under the influence of his Dominican stepfather. That mix exposed him early to a wide range of genres — reggae, jazz, soca, R&B, kizomba, pop, salsa, merengue, and bachata.
Military Service
Vinny served four years of active duty in the United States Air Force, including time in Afghanistan, before turning fully to music.
Musical Development
He trained alongside his mentor Derek Deler and alongside Richy Peña. By his own YouTube biography, he sang and wrote for Jowell y Randy, Ivy Queen, De La Ghetto, and his longtime friend Jorgie Milliano. The Jowell y Randy and Ivy Queen credits are independently corroborated on his official Spotify biography; the De La Ghetto and Jorgie Milliano credits rest, for now, solely on his own YouTube biography — a valid primary source, but not independently corroborated.
Current Chapter
Today, Vinny Rivera presents himself as a sensual bachata artist under the EQS Música label, in partnership with executive producer DerekVinci — the same Derek Deler who shaped his early years. His single "Plan" (2024) sits at the center of this sensual-bachata chapter, and "Mamacita" reached No. 1 on Spain's Rumbero Top 30 chart. He has toured the United States, Mexico, Europe, Malaysia, and elsewhere in Asia.

Connection To Our Archive
Vinny Rivera was already documented in the archive before this addition: as a guest artist on Chino El Asesino's "La Tentación" (2013, Agresivo Recordz), alongside Senti Miento and Brujo Live, and on the tracklist of Konnexion Lokal 3 ("Give It To Me"). In that same period, he was half of the duo Vinny y Dinky with Dinky — now active as Damian King — with whom he released the album "Los Más Duro del Area" (2015) under the same label that anchors his current chapter, EQS Música.
A 2019 NAZA 51 Spotlight later documented him as a New England artist and songwriter: it independently corroborates his Air Force service, describes him as a songwriter for Universal Music Latin Ent under his EQS Management imprint, and cites "Baila Mi Reggaetona" and the nickname "King of Kizomba" as part of his body of work.
