IDENTITY

I. Young Cartel, Out of Boston

Young Cartel is a hip-hop artist from Boston, Massachusetts — a connection explicitly stated in his Instagram bio's location field and encoded directly into his current handle, “617,” Boston's area code. He's used different usernames across his documented career: @1YoungCartel (2013–2015), @YoungCartel4eva (2015), and, since 2023, @YoungCartel617. In content he published in 2025, he also signs as “Joshua Graves” — a detail found only in his own posts, never independently confirmed.

2013

II. 2013 — The First Releases

His YouTube channel is created on May 9, 2013, and his first documented songs arrive that December under his own crew name, NHL4EVA Records: “I Shoot Gunz,” “Well I'll Be Damned,” and “Young Niggaz” — the latter alongside Dillavel and Rugz, of BBG, both described as Boston artists.

2014–2016

III. 2014–2016 — Growing the Catalog

In the years that follow he expands his catalog with “Fuck Tha Fame,” “Wuts It Worth” (alongside labelmate Mr. Flexx), “Thriller,” “Ain't No Love In The Bean,” “Bang,” “Hood Nigga,” and “Dummy.” Two collaborations from this period reach beyond the local scene: “Narcotics” (2014), with Chicago artist King Lil Jay, and “Math” (2016), with Detroit artist Rocaine. In October 2015 he releases the mixtape “Straight Drop,” hosted by DJ Shon.

2023

IV. 2023 — A Return

After a period with no documented activity, Young Cartel returns to music in May 2023 with the singles “Look Like” and “Lifestyle.” That same window coincides with renewed media attention around his public figure, documented across an interview series that collectively drew far more views than any song in his own catalog.

2024–2025

V. 2024–2025 — A Turn Toward Faith

Starting in 2024, his public content takes a marked turn toward the religious: his Instagram bio becomes a Bible verse, and his most recent posts are devotional readings and reflections on faith. On June 19, 2025, he releases “Joshua Graves x Nothing Without God,” his most recent musical release as of this research — a gospel-rap single that openly marks this new chapter.
