ROOTS

A Dominican-American Voice

Carolina Montesquieu describes herself in her official bio as a Dominican-American stand-up comedian and writer. That background turns up often in her material — two of her most-watched clips are titled “Crazy Dominican Slang” and “Dominican Guys.”

On her verified Instagram she calls herself “Just an all-American Dominican girl.” In October 2026 she posted a series of videos she titles “transplant tings,” about life as a newcomer to New York, tagging several with #massachusetts, #brooklyn and #homesick.

Neither her bio nor the press reviewed says where she was born or when she started doing comedy. What is documented is where she came up: on the Cambridge and Somerville circuit, in the Boston area.

In October 2023, Cambridge Day put her first on a list of ten up-and-coming comics performing around Cambridge and Somerville. The piece recalls an open-mic set of hers at The Middle East in Central Square and calls her “one of the freshest voices in the scene,” with bits about getting psychic readings from touching white women's hair and about Market Basket lore — the New England grocery chain.

Her local work kept building: on July 14, 2024, she was the featured comic at “Sunday Funny Day” at The Anchor in Charlestown. In March 2025, Boston comic Bethany Van Delft named her as her up-and-coming local comedian on WBUR's The Common.

She now works out of New York, performing at clubs such as The Stand and New York Comedy Club. In 2025 she performed at Newcomers, the emerging-comedy showcase at Brooklyn's Bell House; according to her official bio, that showcase was part of the 2025 New York Comedy Festival.

Several of her sets were published in 2026: at Cracked Comedy Club in March and on NowThis's Standup Desk in April. She also appeared on episode 129 of OFTV's comedy series LMAOF, alongside Brittany Brave and Reg Thomas.

2025–2026 · DON'T TELL COMEDY

Don't Tell Comedy Semifinalist

More than 1,500 comedians entered the 2025 Don't Tell Comedy Competition, and Montesquieu advanced to the semifinals. The label filmed her set at Montclair Mezzanine in Montclair, New Jersey, and released it on October 7, 2026, as “White Guilt Is a Beautiful Thing,” written and performed by her.

The short clips Don't Tell Comedy cut from the set traveled further than the full set. “Dominican Guys” had passed 667,000 views by October 26, 2026 — the highest count among her official videos.

According to her official bio, she opens for Ilana Glazer in theaters across the United States, and her Punchup profile lists opening slots for Hannibal Buress, Vladimir Caamaño and Radel Ortiz. On October 2, 2026, she announced her first headlining dates on Instagram, and her Linktree lists a run of shows at Goofs Comedy Club in Somerville — back on the scene where she first stood out.
