PAPERA

Papera — Christian Abreu — was born in Boston, according to a Listín Diario profile based on his own interview on that outlet's El Cuartico podcast. The same profile documents that he spent much of his childhood in the Dominican Republic, partly around the newsroom where his mother, Bethania Apolinar, worked for seventeen years.

His own Spotify bio describes him as “Christian Abreu from the Dominican Republic,” and his official YouTube channel's description presents him as an “artist from the Dominican Republic” — with the channel's country set to Dominican Republic. This doesn't contradict his Boston birth: they're two distinct facts — birthplace and cultural upbringing — that this archive keeps separate, rather than folding into a single origin story.

Before becoming an artist, Papera was a content creator. According to Listín Diario, he was managing a sneaker store when the pandemic hit: “I was the store manager, the pandemic hits and everyone locks down — that's when I start with TikTok.” His breakout came with a viral video centered on “el Mistolín,” which later also became his first musical single (2020).

Over time, content and music began sharing space, until the balance tipped, as he explained to Listín Diario. “Pap3raTV,” his official YouTube channel, documents that transition from 2020 onward.

Since 2020, Papera has released an extensive catalog within Dominican dembow, almost entirely as the primary artist. No verified songwriting or production credits exist under his own name — “Hasta Abajo” (2026), for example, is produced by El Baby R, not by Papera.

“Que Linda” (2024) — credited to Lomiiel, Donaty, Papera, and Leo RD — is one of his most important tracks. “EN BLUSA” (January 20, 2024, with Yoan Retro) is, by his own channel's view count, his most-watched video.

“TATARA” (July 19, 2023) is a Lomiiel track featuring Alex Roxario and Papera as a guest, not a Papera single: his own YouTube channel presents it as “PAPERA - TATARA ft Lomiiel, Alex Rosario,” but the song's own credits confirm Lomiiel as the primary artist. A remix (“TATARA REMIX,” August 28, 2023) adds Alex Roxario as an additional featured artist.

His most consistent collaborator is El Baby R, present on more than ten releases between 2023 and 2026. “Envenenao” (2024), with Chucky73, is his highest-profile collaboration. His most recent release, “SOLTERAS” (August 21, 2026), is with Conep; “AGARRATE” (July 24, 2026) is his featured artist pick on Spotify.
