A young couple moves into their first apartment and finds a red-haired, freckled doll. They soon discover that both their home and the doll carry an evil presence — that of the Lakeshore Strangler, Charles Lee Ray, who died in that same house six months earlier.
Charles is an independent, unofficial reimagining of Chucky, directed by Luis Serrano — professionally known as Tony Bizz, a filmmaker documented in this archive's Directors section — alongside Mitch Francis, founder of Cinemagic Pictures. The project was funded through two crowdfunding campaigns and released directly on YouTube under the joint Tony Bizz Productionz / Cinemagic Pictures banner. It is a non-profit fan film, not affiliated with or represented by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, Orion Pictures, Rogue Pictures, Universal Pictures, or any other rights holder of Child's Play — and should never be confused with a separate, unrelated film also titled “Charles” (2019) from a different director.
