Doble A & Nales — a documented era of his career
BIOGRAPHY
I. Identity
In 2009, ASCAP honored Aaron Peña — a Dominican producer and songwriter raised in Massachusetts who records as Doble A, also billed as Doble AA or A&A — with an Urban-category songwriting award in Puerto Rico, for his work on Alexis & Fido's "Soy Igual Que Tú." That recognition caps a career built almost entirely as half of a pair: with Nales, he formed the production duo known as Los Presidentes, working inside the Mas Flow orbit on records that helped define a key stretch of mid-2000s reggaetón.
His current public identity still runs through that partnership — his Instagram account introduces him as "Aaron Pena (Doble A & Nales)," billing the pair as Latin Grammy-nominated "Songwriters, Producers & Engineers."
II. Early Years
His story belongs to a generation of the Dominican diaspora in New England that found, in reggaetón, a connection point with Puerto Rico. Some sources tie him more specifically to the Boston area, though this archive holds the geographic reference at Massachusetts until a more precise, independently verified account surfaces.
By 2019, a NAZA 51 Spotlight was already calling him "one of New England's most important producers," tracing a path "from JP Inc Records to becoming part of the renowned Mas Flow Inc. alongside Nales, forming Los Presidentes."
2006–2007
III. High Rollers Family
Los Presidentes came later. Before that, Doble A — AA — was part of High Rollers Family, a group under JP Inc Records that, per that same archive record, also included Manuelito and Calapeso.
The group's release, Da Street Album (High Rollers Family, JP Inc Records), went out through Venevision International Music via Universal Music Distribution, licensed through Machete Music. The physical disc — now photographed and archived in Wix Media Manager — carries a High Rollers Family copyright notice dated 2006 on its cover and a Venevision International Music, LLC recording and distribution notice dated 2007 on the back.
Track five, "Esta Noche Es Tuya," features Brujo & D Voiz — confirmed directly from the track listing printed on that back cover.
IV. Doble A & Nales / Los Presidentes
Nales — Anthony Cotto — comes from Virginia, not Massachusetts; the two producers' geographic origins diverge even as their career runs together.
Their first documented joint credit sits on Los Rompe Discotekas (2006), a Héctor El Father compilation on Roc-A-Fella Records, where Doble A & Nales appear among the credited producers. That same year brought "Noche de Entierro (Nuestro Amor)," from Mas Flow: Los Benjamins, and "Baila Sola," from Don Omar's Los Bandoleros Reloaded.
As a duo, they've worked under the name Los Presidentes ever since — the same identity their Instagram account (@lospresidentes_) still carries publicly today, though no verified date marks exactly when that name came into use; this archive doesn't invent one.
His name surfaces, too, in Letraz Fina's early archive: the original cover of Konnexion Lokal (2007), presented by Brujo, credits him in its "Starring" line alongside Brujo, D Voiz, and other collaborators from that era — a connection already on record in this archive, not a new find.
V. Mas Flow
Los Presidentes operated within Mas Flow Inc., the production house behind Luny Tunes and Tainy during reggaetón's biggest commercial run. Their work under its Wild Dogz imprint is documented directly in the credits for Sobrenatural.
2006–2007
VI. Production And Credits
Sobrenatural (Alexis & Fido, November 13, 2007, Sony BMG Norte / Wild Dogz) stands as Doble A & Nales' most significant documented credit: co-executive producers on the album, with production work on 10 of its 14 tracks, including "5 Letras," "Sobrenatural," and "Soy Igual Que Tú."
Their 2006 credits round out the picture — Los Rompe Discotekas (Héctor El Father), "Noche de Entierro (Nuestro Amor)" alongside Luny Tunes and Tainy, one of that era's most recognized reggaetón collective tracks, and "Baila Sola," from Los Bandoleros Reloaded.
2009
VII. Recognition
The plaque itself fixes the date: March 3, 2009, when Doble AA received the ASCAP award as songwriter of "Soy Igual Que Tú," documented directly from a photograph of the physical award. Sobrenatural, the album carrying that song, picked up two Latin Grammy nominations for Best Urban Music Album and one Premio Lo Nuestro nomination of its own.
