RICHY PEÑA

A Dominican producer, songwriter, and engineer based in Boston, with a career that bridges the local scene and the Latin music industry — his work includes producing "Mi Niña Bonita," Chino y Nacho's Latin Grammy-winning album from 2010, and founding the Boston Music Conference.

DOCUMENTED HISTORY

I. Origins

Years before he produced a Latin Grammy winner, Richy Peña crossed into the United States as an undocumented child — a DREAMER, in his own words. He tells that story himself in a 2025 interview with Que Pasa Boston, tracing the distance between that beginning and the producer, songwriter, and engineer he became.

BASE OF OPERATIONS

II. Boston As Home Base

Boston is where that career took root, and it's where he still identifies himself — his Instagram bio reads simply "Boston 🇩🇴." Archival footage backs that up: BostonLatinoTV and Enrick Bove each documented production sessions in the city between 2009 and 2011, including artists who traveled to Boston specifically to record with him.

2008–2011

III. Production And Expansion

That pull is best illustrated by a 2009 Boston session with Tony Dize and Chino y Nacho, extending a collaboration that began with La Melodía de la Calle in 2008 (detailed further in his production credits below). Around the same period, he produced a promotional single for the duo Troy y Phil, documented by Enrick Bove around 2010–2011. A 2009 archival video from BostonLatinoTV also identifies him as a producer for Don Omar — a period claim no other source independently confirms.

2010–2011

IV. Mi Niña Bonita / Recognition

That Tony Dize/Chino y Nacho session paid off in 2010, when Chino y Nacho won the Latin Grammy for Best Urban Music Album for "Mi Niña Bonita" — a win documented directly on the award's official plaque from the Latin Academy of Recording Arts & Sciences. The plaque certifies the award itself, not the production credit; that Peña produced the album comes from two other sources, his own Instagram profile and independent editorial coverage from Que Pasa Boston and Triangulo TV.

The following year, BMI recognized the song with a Citation of Achievement, documented in an official BMI release.

V. Industry / Entrepreneurship

Peña also founded the Boston Music Conference, confirmed both by his 2025 interview and by the direct link to bostonmusicconference.com on his official YouTube channel. BostonLatinoTV was already calling him the conference's "CEO" back in 2009 — a title that points to more than a decade running the project. More recently he's branched into regenerative agriculture, under the Instagram handle @farmingislifema.

That shift has since become a second career: his LinkedIn profile lists him as CTO of Farming is Life, where he built FAAM, a farm-management app for small organic growers.
