BIOGRAPHY
I. Identity
Cousin Stizz is a rapper from Dorchester, Boston. The Boston Globe (September 4, 2015) introduced him as a Dorchester rapper, and WBUR (February 22, 2019) places him in Dorchester, Boston; his Apple Music biography calls him Boston's MC.
2015–2019
II. Suffolk County And RCA Records
Suffolk County, his debut mixtape, came out in June 2015. Per Apple Music, he signed with RCA Records after that project, releasing One Night Only (July 12, 2017) and Trying To Find My Next Thrill (August 2019), his second studio album per the Boston Globe.
2021–2026
III. Independence
DJBooth (February 12, 2022) reports that he parted ways with RCA and returned to independence. His releases since “Say Dat” (September 2021) carry their own copyright notices: Just For You (February 11, 2022) is credited “℗ Stizz Music Inc.,” under exclusive license to Independent, and GABOS (July 26, 2024) as “℗ Cousin Stizz.” The same pattern continues with “Field Goal” (2026), also credited “℗ Cousin Stizz,” and the EP Mine As Well (2026), his most recent release.
DECEMBER 2018
IV. In Boston
The Boston Globe (December 12, 2018) recorded his second consecutive Boston Calling appearance. That same month, he became the first hip-hop artist named Artist of the Year at the Boston Music Awards — detailed in Recognition, below.
RECOGNITION
Boston Music Awards And RIAA
In December 2018, he became the first hip-hop artist named Artist of the Year at the Boston Music Awards, and he also won Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, for the second year running (WBUR, Boston Globe, and the Dorchester Reporter). The awards' own official page lists him as the winner of Artist of the Year, Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, and Music Video of the Year — for “Trying To Find My Next Thrill” — in 2019, and again Artist of the Year and Hip-Hop Artist of the Year in 2022.
The RIAA database certified “Perfect (feat. City Girls)” (RCA) Gold on October 28, 2022.
